The shape of the Matcha Bowl is called “Sankaku-gata” describing the eyecatching triangulair shape of the bowl.
The potterer of the Matcha Bowl is named Mami Kondo. she decorated the glazed clay bowl with beehive shaped decorations and flowers. This saphire colored Matcha Bowl was made in a pottery institution In Ofuna Japan in 2023.
The pottery Institution hosts workshops in glassblowing, ceramic making and also holds ceramic exhibitions and tea ceremony events. The Institution also seems to host an interest in the tea ceremony culture and preparing tea sweets called namagashi.
We called this Matcha bowl SAFAIA because of the bright Saphire colored glaze.
