This agate colored Matcha Bowl was made in Saga prefecture.
Ceramics from this region are also known as ‘Karatsu Ware‘.
The previous owner of this Matcha bowl told us that The bowl has been over 50 years old.
When opening the wooden box (Kiribako) of the bowl we also found a certificate. we are still trying to translate the certificate due to it’s old Japanese scripture.
The bowl has an agate colored brush patern which gives it a unique appearance.
The shape of the Matcha bowl is called ‘Hatazori-gata’ which indicates the curling lip at the top.
We named this bowl ‘Burashi’, eccentuating the unique brush patern.
